80th anniversary of the resettlement of Kazakhstani Koreans

Aktau celebrated the 80th anniversary of the resettlement of Koreans to Kazakhstan and the 25th anniversary of the Mangistau ethnocultural association "Choson".

Akim of the region Eraly Tugzhanov, representatives of the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan, artists of the Republican State Theater of Korean Musical Comedy, veterans, regional ethno-cultural associations, as well as residents of the city of Aktau, took part in the solemn events organized by the Assembly of the people of Kazakhstan in Mangistau region, KGU "Kogamdyk kelіsim".

In 1937, 100 thousand Koreans were not relocated to Kazakhstan by their own will. The resettlers were located in all regions and, despite the bitterness of resentment, they actively joined in the arrangement of a new place and work activity. Now about 107 thousand people reside in Kazakhstan, about 800 Koreans in Mangistau.

In honor of the holiday of the Association of Koreans in Kazakhstan paid tribute and laid flowers to the monument of the first Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee "Adai" Tobaniaza Alniyazova.

And also representatives of the Korean diaspora got acquainted with the social objects of the city and Akim of Mangistau region Eraly Tugzhanov received the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan De Sik Kim. Later in the House of Friendship with the participation of ethno-cultural associations a round table was held on the topic "Spiritual Revival - the factor of the unity of peoples".

The final part of the solemn event took place in the regional musical and drama theater. N.Zhanturina. On a solemn evening, citizens who contributed to the strengthening of interethnic harmony received awards from the oblast akim.

- This year we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Koreans' stay in Kazakhstan and the 25th anniversary of the Korean ECO region. Today, our Koreans have become an integral part of multinational Kazakhstan. Despite the migration, in the post-Soviet period, representatives of some ethnic groups of the republic remained in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan has become for many a home. Our region, the city of Aktau, was also raised by people of different nationalities. Many of them stayed here to live, took root and consider Mangistau their homeland, - said the mayor of Mangistau region Eraly Tugzhanov.

The solemn event ended with a festive concert of local artists and an exhibition of works by artists of our region.
