In Aktogay district the members of the expedition visited the places related with the name Sultanbet – Sultan, ruler of Middle Irtysh region in the most difficult periods of the Kazakh Khanate - in the second half of XVIII century. He was great grandson of Yesim Khan and a cousin of Abylai Khan.

Sultanbet distinguished himself as a diplomat in the liberation Abylai from Jungar captivity, Kazakh-Chinese territorial disputes, as well as in relations with Russia. Sultanbet was one of the most powerful sultans of Kazakh Khanate. In 1762 Empress Catherine II, on the occasion of her accession to the throne, sent letters to Nuraly Khan and Abylai Khan, and to Sultanbet also. He conducted personal correspondence with the Empress.

There is Tore tubegі in that district (stay place of Sultanbet’s sons - Iman and Zhantemir), and mazar of Sultan and his descendants. The height of domed brick mazar is 5 m, the bottom of it is made in the form of an octahedron. Inside the mazar there is three-ton stone installed with the height of 185 cm, the stone was brought from Ulytau - the holy place where Zhoshy Khan buried.
