August 5, 2016 the republican campaign "Mediation Day " was carried out in all regions of Kazakhstan under the auspices of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.

The event was held in accordance with the Memorandum signed between the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event will be attended by professional and non-professional mediators, leaders and members of mediator organizations, heads of offices on mediation, members of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan on social harmony, ethnic and cultural associations, regional judges and city courts as well as local agencies.

The purpose is the promotion and development of the activities of ANC mediation institute, promotion of resolving disputes and conflict situations in the pretrial order among the population.

Activities will contribute to:

First, the development of the institute of mediation of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, as a mechanism to resolve social and legal conflicts; pre-trial settlement of disputes;

Second, the development of the mediation of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan institutions on regional level, including remote areas (districts and villages);

Third, the development of mediation institution in Assembly of People of Kazakhstan in socio-critical directions - ethnic relations; education; labor relations; family and domestic disputes, etc .;

Fourth, the popularization of mediation among the population as a promising alternative way of resolve conflicts and disputes without the involvement of courts and law enforcement agencies;

Fifth, to organize the work of regional institutions of Kazakhstan People's Assembly of mediation with the participation of professional and non-professional mediators and retired judges.

As a part of the campaign in all regions the Houses of Friendship held an Open Day at:

- 10.00h - Grand Opening of the Mediation Day;

- 11.00h - reception of citizens by professional and non-professional mediators free of charge;

- 17.00h - Summary.

In addition, on this day will be held:

- Free advice to the public;

- Distribution of booklets to the public showing the location and phone number of trust mediation offices;

- Conducting blitz poll among the population;

- Situational training with the involvement of professional mediators.

In general, it is expected that the event will be attended by 17 officials on mediation of the ANC and over 300 officials at the courts and other institutions, including districts and villages, which will conduct reception of citizens by professional and non-professional mediators.
