Ust-Kamenogorsk - The House of Friendship together with the regional children's and youth library organized a festive evening in honor of the 175th anniversary of the great thinker and poet Abai Kunanbayev. In one of the halls library employees presented Abai's book exhibition to the public.

The anniversary concert was opened by talented artists of Shabyt student theatre. They read "Words of edification" by Abai and staged mini-performances on his works. And famous songs of the composer were performed by the vocal ensemble ‘Akniet’.

"We decided to hold this event in order to show the young generation a true example of wisdom in the person of the Great poet. As you could notice, the majority of participants of our concert are schoolchildren and students. We tried to involve youth as much as possible, with the purpose to acquaint children with creativity of the national genius in more details, after all so it is important to know as much as possible about the personality and a heritage of the enlightener" Gulshat Smagulkyzy, Head of vocal ensemble has told.

The evening continued with a quiz on the life and work of Abai Kunanbayev. The students were especially active, reading by heart the poems and fragments of the poet's "Words of Edification". At the end of the game, the library staff presented memorable prizes to the "most erudite connoisseurs".

At the end of the poetry evening the aksakals of the ensemble ‘Atamura’ sang Abai Kunanbaev's song ‘Zhelsiz Tunde Zharygai’. Having heard a familiar melody, the audience began to sing with the choir.
