September 4, 2016 on a high-skating rink "Medeo", Almaty, was held a festival of national cuisine of the People of Kazakhstan "Toy Kaza 2016". This year the festival is dedicated to the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Almaty city and is supported by the akimat of Almaty and the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by Mayor of Almaty Baurzhan Baibek, Deputy Chairman - Head of the Secretariat of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan Yeraly Tugzhanov, Taldykorgan akim Bagdat Karasaev, representatives of ethno-cultural associations, Almaty residents and guests. This year, according to the organizers, the festival was attended nearly by five thousand people. Everyone was able to taste the pilaf for free.

During the event, it was noted that the festival "Toy Kazan- 2016" has become the personification of the unity of the people in all the diversity of cultures and ethnic groups of our country.

"The hospitality since ancient times distinguish our people. Festival "Toy Kazan" is a holiday of unity, friendship and harmony. I am sure that such festivals should be supported. In Almaty there are more than 2 thousand cafes and restaurants that not only allows residents and tourists to enjoy a different cuisines, but also provide more than 50 thousand jobs, "- said the mayor of the metropolis.

Rich cultural, educational and entertainment program of the festival began at 11 am and continued until 9 p.m.

According to the program of the festival each thematic area was assigned to a separate area, the center of which was the "Avenue of the restaurants," ethno-village, as well as the book festival "Kіtapfest". In addition it was possible to purchase products of folk arts in the "City of Masters, Almaty", offering fascinating insight into the history of the city, sports and children's playgrounds, to become active participants in a variety of sports, games and entertainment and educational competitions.

On the main stage of the Festival were representated 11 ethnic cultural centers of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in Almaty, as well as a grand non-stop concert of Kazakh pop stars and opera.

For the first time during the festival was held a vocal competition "Toy kazan dauysy". Ten finalists selected from 43 contestants had an opportunity to perform on the stage of the legendary mountain skating rink "Medeo".

One of the main events of the gastronomic festival was a competition for the most delicious beshbarmak from the city's best chefs.
