In order to implement the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Mediation" on September 6, 2016 municipal public institution "Kogamdyk kelіsіm" Atyrau regional akimat organized the training on "Basic skills for nonprofessinal mediators" with the participation of a professional mediator of West Kazakhstan Center for mediation and negotiation process A.Kurtaeva.

The training was attended by the heads of ethnocultural associations of Atyrau region; members of the Boards of public consent regions, enterprises and organizations; members of the Mother's Counicil.

The aim of the training was the development of theoretical knowledge and strengthening of practical skills for non-professional mediators.

The program was designed to educate nonprofessional mediators in the field of prevention and resolution of ethnic conflicts, disputes and provides the necessary minimum knowledge to conduct mediation. Training was carried out using a variety of teaching methods: mini-lectures, practical exercises, role-playing, simulation of mediation procedures with individual feedback.

During the training, participants gained an understanding of what mediation is, its principles, benefits, legislative framework in the field of mediation; the role of inter-ethnic mediator, experience of non-professional mediators in this area and the potential for inter-ethnic mediation in conflict resolution.

At the end of the seminar the participants were given certificates.
