He noted that besides mass victims of hunger and repressions, the Kazakh people were threatened with loss of their language and culture. The Forum is a reminder that the age of radical ideologies has passed, but we must draw correct conclusions from the lessons of history.

Deputy Head of APK called the project a part of deep rethinking of the processes taking place in the world and a part of huge ideological work in Kazakhstan.

Over the years, the project has been implemented in various regions, and the X Forum is held in the capital of Kazakhstan - Nur-Sultan from 29 to 31 May.

"In 1997, which was declared the Year of National Reconciliation and Political Repression Victims Remembrance Day, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev issued a decree declaring May 31 the Remembrance Day of Political Repression Victims. In 2011, the decree was amended, and May 31 became "Remembrance Day of Political Repression and Famine Victims" for Kazakhstanis," Zhanseit Tuimebayev said.

This day has a special meaning for the people of Kazakhstan, he said. The crimes of totalitarianism have affected almost every family in one way or another. This is a day that unites us, and it is our duty to remember these tragic events of history and the young generation knew about them, so that this would not happen again in the future.

"Since gaining independence, Kazakhstan has been working hard to preserve historical memory. In 2004 the program "Madeni mura" was organized, directed on restoration of historical-cultural monuments and objects on the territory of Kazakhstan. In 2015, we adopted the program "Halyk tarih tolkynynda", which allowed to collect and study documents from the world's leading archives devoted to the history of our country. At the same time, the scale of the tragedy is such that much remains to be learned," Deputy Head of APK said.

Today, this work is carried out within the framework of "Ruhani zhangyru" program and its second stage - "Seven facets of the Great Steppe".

"On the basis of the article "Seven facets of the Great Steppe" by Elbasy, we have developed a huge work on the modernization of public consciousness, it is necessary to approve the fundamental foundations of our historical worldview" the speaker said.

According to Zhanseit Tuimebayev, the project "Memory for the Future" is one of the cornerstones of the formation of an open modern historical consciousness of the people of independent Kazakhstan.

"This is the ideological meaning of the project. It is also a subject for research" the speaker concluded and thanked the Forum participants.
