Speech:

Good afternoon!

Many thanks for the opportunity to speak from such a high rostrum!

I am a film director, and I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you, Nursultan Abishevich, to the Government for supporting our cinematography.

Let me say a little about today's cinema and its impact on the modern spectator.

Cinema in any developed country is the most important art and branch of the economy. But today cinema is still a serious ideological tool.

This, you, Nursultan Abishevich, stressed in the article "A glance at the future".

In this respect, cinema effectively influences minds. Not for nothing Hollywood, Bollywood, the powerfully developing Chinese and Russian film industries are shooting spectacular blockbusters that praise their history, their achievements, their heroes.

Many know how cult films influenced public opinion and even the political situation in different countries. Sometimes, unfortunately, they carried destructive and very dangerous ideas.

Therefore, the authors of the film have a huge responsibility. First of all, for those ideas that are embedded in the paintings. The stories that we tell from the screens should benefit society, educate, guide and be creative.

And now, at a difficult time, when in the world there are so many countries with unstable politics, wars, many of which are unleashed on ethnic, religious conflicts, it is very important to appreciate that in Kazakhstan there are no such humanitarian crises. Our country is multinational, people live in peace and harmony, and this is priceless! We should be proud of this and take care of our property! Of course, this is, above all, yours, Mr. President Merit!

We, domestic filmmakers, should also contribute to the strengthening of stability and be useful to the country, society.

As an example, I want to cite the film "The Road to the Mother". The film tells the story of the mother and son, who were separated and met only after 40 years. The drama of the main characters unfolds amid the difficult events of the 20th century for our people: collectivization, hunger, war, repression.

And we, judging by the positive feedback from the audience, managed to tell this Kazakh story as correctly as possible, delicately in relation to the viewer of any people and country. Wherever we showed the film, it was perceived not politicized, but as a great human drama.

The film received several international awards - the Grand Prix of the Tallinn International Film Festival, there was a screening at the Moscow International Festival, there were screenings in America, Turkey, Italy and a number of other countries, the other day in Bishkek we received the award as the best film in Central Asia.

Of course, genre films, films on patriotic, historical themes are in demand, and they must be removed. At the same time, there is a demand for copyright, alternative cinema. Therefore, it is important for the national cinema to develop all genres of contemporary cinema art.

We must build a full-fledged self-sufficient film industry, which will take its rightful place at the world level. And this, apart from economic benefits, has an important ideological significance - it will allow us to export our rich history and culture to the international community!

I think I will not be mistaken if I say that the people of art have received with great enthusiasm the project proposed by you, Mr. President, to promote modern Kazakhstan culture in the global world.

These are new opportunities and this is a great incentive for creativity in our country.

It is important for us to make the most of the huge global art market, including our neighbors. Recently our talented singer Dimash Kudaibergen successfully participated in the contest of performers in China. He's in this room. I think he will have the opportunity to tell about his impressions.

We, representatives of creative professions are ready to contribute to the strengthening of our unity, the formation of a positive image of our country in the world.

Thank you for attention!
