“INDEPENDENCE POLE” ANTARCTICA EXPEDITIONISTS

“Independence Pole” expeditionists Magzhan Sagimbayev and Ilyas Galimbekov climbers are in Antarctica on December 7, 2016.

They were more than four hours in the flight. The flight was made by “Air Almaty” Antarctic airline on the Ил-76 airplane. Magzhan Sagimbayev and Iliyas Galimbekov were the first expeditionists who touched the ground of arctic continent, the others joined with them later.

‘There were many expectations and impressions. For us with Iliyas it is a great honor to make ascension to the Vinson peak and plant a flag of our country, flag of Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan at the special day of 25th anniversary of Independence, the day when we gained independence. The whole country is watching us. Many things depend on weather conditions, but we hope that ascension will be successful. I think that it will be sincere and fine moment. Every time when you rich the peak you feel fantastic emotional uplift. It is the sweetest 30-40 seconds in the life that feels every climber. And for the sake of this seconds I think we are living for’, - said the “Independence Pole” expedition group head Magzhan Sagimbayev.

‘Of course there is a little excitement, because it is a heavy responsibility. We feel a great pride for the honor  to conquer South Pole and Vinson peak on the occasion of 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan Independence’, - Iliyas Galimbekov told about own impressions.

After landing to Union Glassier base in Antarctica, climbers will get through acclimatization, which takes a few days and then preparing for ascension to the Vinson peak (4892 m.) will start.
