The "International Day of Older Persons", as decided by the General Assembly of the United Nations, is celebrated annually on October 1, 1991.

In Kazakhstan, this holiday is quite popular. On this day, in many cities of the country there are festivals, veterans' commemoration and activities dedicated to the elderly.

And in the Assembly of the people of Kazakhstan in Mangistau region, KGU "Kogamdyk kelіsim" of the akim machinery there are events dedicated to honoring veterans of labor, pensioners.

On the eve of this holiday, the representative of the Azerbaijani ethnocultural association "Dostlug" Mammadov Fatali Dzhabrail oglu together with the state institution "Aktau City Center for Social Services at Home" organized a festive dinner, entertainment program for pensioners, labor veterans, single and low-income elderly people.

- From year to year, together with the deputies of the city maslikhat, representatives of ethno-cultural associations, as well as our patrons of art, we hold such events, we try to take care of our elders. The purpose of this event is to show concern for the older generation, we want to show that the state pays attention to every citizen. On this day everyone tries to show attention to grandfathers and grandmothers, especially young people are active. This is how a respectful attitude towards elderly people is cultivated, "said Musina Muminat Murasbekkiza, the head of the department of the city social service center at home.

Also, the deputy of the city maslikhat Guseynov Shamsadin Allahverdi oglu congratulated all those present on the holiday on behalf of the representatives of the Azerbaijani ethno-cultural association.

- Day of the elderly person is a kind and bright holiday, in which we are surrounded by special attention of representatives of the older generation. Perhaps, it is celebrated in October because the autumn of the year is identified with the autumn of life. In the golden autumn, we honor those who devoted all their strength and knowledge to their people, who gave their health and youth to the younger generation. We want to thank you all for your wisdom, for the ability to indicate the right direction. We wish you health and prosperity. We bow low to you, live long, we need you. During the event, the organizers heard a lot of thankful words from the guests, for whom this kind, sincere holiday was held, which once again showed that there is always room for good and mercy in our world and our hearts.
