August 5, 2016, Kokshetau KSU "Қoғamdyқ kelіsіm" (House of Friendship) passed a republican campaign "Mediation Day" organized by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan together with the regional court of Akmola region. The event was attended by professional and non-professional mediators, members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, public consent, representatives of ethno-cultural associations, judges of regional and city courts, retired judges and the media. The purpose of the event was to promote the institution of mediation among the population, and a promising alternative way of resolving conflicts and disputes without the involvement of the courts and law enforcement agencies.
Akmola Dzhakupova and Maral Kazhikenovna spoke with a welcoming speech to the head of the Secretariat of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. The role of mediation in society and the work of the mediation office at KSU "Қoғamdyқ kelіsіm" were discussed. Among the speakers was Kasymov Temirkhan Baltaevich, Akmola regional court retired judge, the chairman of the Public Council for Cooperation with the courts.
In the framework of the republican campaign "Day of Mediation" and Open Day mediation office in the House of friendship a meeting was held with the citizens of Kokshetau, professional and non-professional mediators, providing free consultations on various issues. Leaflets and flyers were passed to the participants with the contacts of helpline office.
More than 70 people including media took part in the opening ceremony. 12 people came for consultation to the mediation office, mostly with the complaints concerning issues of work and family relationships.
Appeals on inter-ethnic relations have not been reported, indicating a safe environment in the region.
