On August 18, in the framework of the 20th anniversary of Astana in Central Park for the first time in Kazakhstan was held a celebration of the Bashkir people “Yiyin”. The organizers were akimat of Astana, the capital Assembly of people of Kazakhstan, NGO “Bashkir Ethno-cultural Association “Akbuzat”. The initiators of the event expressed their gratitude to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan for their support.

The solemn opening took place in the afternoon on the main stage. The introductory speech of the occasion was opened by the head of the Secretariat of Assembly of people of Kazakhstan Lyazzat Kussainova and the visitor from Bashkortostan – Director of Sibay Theatre and Concert Association, honored artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Aibulat Kutushev.

Ministry of culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan gave activists of the Bashkir Ethno-cultural Association “Akbuzat” Anisa Sirazitdinova, Lyalya Ussabaeva, Roza Bektimirova, Alfiya Karimova gratitude letters.

Artists from Bashkortostan presented the best musical compositions to the audience. Honored worker of culture Ramil Tuisin, artists Gayaz Gayetayev, Zaliya Nurly, Sumbul Muratova plased with their performance. Activists of Bashkir Ethno-cultural Association also showed talent.

Bashkirs, the ancient Turkic people paid much attention to the beauty of their clothes. Festive clothes were a real work of art; even everyday clothes were given no less attention. The visitors of the Bashkir national costume show were impressed by the variety and design. Great interest was aroused by ethnic fashion presented by the member of the Union of artists of Kazakhstan Radina Batpenova.

Arts and crafts fair brought together passionate people, masters of the craft. Master-classes on painting and murals by students of Ufa State University, young artists Zinnur Gabbasov and Aigiz Nurgalin were held for beginner artists and those who like to draw.

The most active citizens participated in various games, competitions and sports with pleasure during the festive programme. Battle with the bags, sack races, tug of war, running with rocker and other popular entertainment were exciting, fun, lively with the support of the rooters.

–At present, the tradition of holding the oldest Bashkir holiday is reviving, – the organizers of the festive event say.

Yiyin (People's Assembly) – ancient festival of the Bashkir people, which occupies a special place in the traditional ritual culture. It is celebrated on the summer solstice day. Festive square Yiyin was made in the form of a circle. The symbol of equality was a joint meal. The principle of equal distribution of food was observed. During the festival, competitions were held among young people, and the winner was one of the respected members of the community.

Saturday of outdoor recreation turned out to be exciting and useful for citizens and guests of the capital. “Yiyin” in Astana will be remembered for long by those who joined on this wonderful summer day to the ancient Bashkir festival, which takes on a modern character and its popularity today, pleases and brings people together.
