On September 21, a solemn meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Koreans' stay in Kazakhstan and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea was held in Almaty.

The meeting honored veterans who survived the hard years of deportation and contributed to the development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Also, a festive concert was held in the format of a theatrical performance with the participation of the Republican State Academic Korean Theater of Musical Comedy and the Seoul Capital Orchestra of Traditional Music, specially invited from the Republic of Korea.

On the eve of the solemn meeting in the House of Friendship the presentation of the book "Encyclopedia of Koreans of Kazakhstan" was held in which the number of articles is about 3 thousand, they contain carefully selected information on the history, culture and language of Koreans in Kazakhstan.

Encyclopedia contains articles with the main regional information about the traditional culture of the Kazakh people, its outstanding historical figures.

A significant part of the Encyclopedia is devoted to the ethnography of Koreans. The publication includes a chronology of major events by year, divided into major historical periods: resettlement in Russia (1860-ies - 1917); life in the Soviet Far East (1917-1937); deportations to Kazakhstan and Central Asia (1937-1941); gaining a new homeland (1941-1991) and modernity in sovereign Kazakhstan (1991- to the present day).

The Encyclopedia provides a short bibliography containing the main sources and printed works about the Koreans of Kazakhstan.

In the presentation of the book, Deputy Chairman and Head of the ANC Secretariat Darkhan Mynbay noted that many Koreans of Kazakhstan and Koreans of Kazakhstan have written a lot of books of different genres and directions, but the "Encyclopedia of Koreans of Kazakhstan" was published for the first time.

"Koreans in modern Kazakhstan are one of the largest ethnic groups. They have accumulated considerable potential. Over the years of residing in Kazakhstan, the Koreans have preserved and in many ways even enriched their national customs and traditions, have made and are making a worthy contribution to the socio-economic and spiritual development of the republic. I want to express great gratitude to the Kazakh Koreans for the contribution, diligence and dedication with which we together create, strengthen and develop independent Kazakhstan, "he said in his speeches.
