The solemn celebration of the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan was held in Almaty in front of the Palace of the Republic. During the event stars of Kazakhstan variety art and representatives of urban ethno-cultural associations made speeches on the stage. During the holiday, each ethno-cultural association demonstrated its culture and national traditions, for which were organized tents with an exhibition of national costumes, arts and crafts and folk crafts, musical instruments, etc. The exhibition also included master classes and interactive sessions with viewers.

The festival of national cuisines and restaurants has become a platform for demonstrating the culinary art of the people of Kazakhstan. The food court zone was organized where everyone could try festive treats and traditional dishes of different ethnic groups.

The mayor of Almaty city Bauyrzhan Baibek also congratulated residents and guests of the city. In his congratulatory speech Almaty mayor noted that the achievements achieved over the years of Kazakhstan independence are a result of the unity and consent of our people.

Today in the country, at the initiative of the Head of State, carried out a modernization system. This is the modernization of the economy, the political system, as well as the modernization of public consciousness, which is at the heart of all transformations. Almaty, being the largest metropolis, is a multi-ethnic city. Here live representatives of more than 100 ethnic groups. It is no coincidence that we call our beloved city a city of thousands of colors. We pay great attention to the inter-ethnic sphere and it is important for us to preserve cultural diversity. Only those cities that are open to people of different nationalities, cultures, religions can be considered modern," said B. Baibek.

According to mayor of Almaty, another important initiative of President is the program "Motherland" or "Little Motherland", one of the aspects of which is Philanthropy.

"For residents of Almaty, charity has already become a good tradition. Over the last two years, sponsorship funds have built more than 100 children's sports grounds, a large number of kindergartens, and a school in the Medeu district. The construction of another school and a polyclinic is nearing completion. Within the framework of the 1000-th anniversary of Almaty, a large-scale action "1000 good deeds" was held with the support of veterans, disabled people and orphans. Great charity work is carried out by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. Only last year, ethno-cultural associations organized more than 90 events with coverage of more than 100 thousand people within the framework of the "Caravan of Mercy".
