It's not a secret for anyone - all the harvest holidays fall on the month of October, when all the agricultural work is over. Many holidays take place only in certain regions and are not celebrated everywhere, but enough and those that are officially recognized are made for all Germans on weekends and attract residents from different cities. This category includes the harvest festival Erntedankfest. This is Thanksgiving Day, in which people say thanks to God for the abundant harvest and the good events that took place in the outgoing year.

The Germans living in the Zhambyl region also could not leave this holiday without attention. Therefore, on October 29, 2017 in the House of Friendship with the support of KGU "Kogamdyk kelisim" of the apparatus of akim of Zhambyl region, the Society of Germans held the Day of Ethnicity, timed to the autumn Thanksgiving holiday of the harvest "Erntedankfest". The purpose of this event was to acquaint the viewer with the holiday of the Erntedankfest, to bring to him the customs of the Germans and to engage in the action itself.

The whole holiday was thought out to the smallest detail and held as one big musical. There were theatrical performances, songs, both in Russian and German and, of course, dances. As without the German polka! And the real decoration of the event was the performances of children who sincerely smiled reading poetry, dressed in costumes of fruits, vegetables and danced with a toy horse.

Chairman of the Society of Germans of Zhambyl region Alexander Gibner and director Nikolay Fast spoke in their speeches on how this holiday is celebrated at the present time and expressed sincere congratulations: "The harvest festival is celebrated in a big way in the villages, but many townspeople are also happy to attend churches on this occasion, and after returning home, they organize solemn meals and call the whole family. After mass, the parishioners go to the city square or to the center of the village: solemn events with dances, fairs and live music continue there. We wish you and your families health, prosperity and a rich harvest!".
