On Saturday, October 29, 2016 on the territory of St. Nicholas cathedral city of Aktobe cathedral solemnly opened and consecrated a monument khachkar (cross-stone). The memorial stone stele carved with a cross was established on the initiative of regional Armenian society "Urartu". In the production of the cross-stone tools were collected throughout the community.

Regional Chairman of the Armenian community in G.Terteryan in his welcome speech noted that the opening of the cross-stone sacred to the Armenians in the landmark year, year of 25^th anniversary of Independence of our country is an indicator of the indivisibility and friendship of our people.

The unveiling was attended by region Deputy Mayor A.Sheriyazdanov, secretary of the regional maslikhat S.Kaldygulova, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Kazakhstan M.Badalyan, Secretariat of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan of Aktobe region, the staff and the head of KSU "Kogamdyk kelisim" G.Sherniyazova, representatives of the Armenian Apostolic church and the Russian Orthodox church, chairman of the Armenian ethno-cultural associations of the regions of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, representatives of ethno-cultural associations of the region, as well as representatives of the public Aktobe.

Khachkar lighting ceremony held by prior of the Astrakhan Armenian Apostolic Church of St. Hripsime father Margos and prior of the church of St. Philip and pastor of All Armenians of the Republic of Uzbekistan father Hovhannes.

In the congratulatory speech, the deputy of the oblast akim A.Sheriyazdanov noted:

"Khachkars are in places which are comfortable to Armenians. We are proud to call their country the multinational and cross-stone symbolizing the unity of souls and purposes. "

In 2010, the art of cross-stones was inscribed on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage of mankind.

At the end of the event trees were planted on the territory of church.
