At the international scientific and practical seminar "Ethnicity and confession in the modern mentality: the issues of methodology and research" organized by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Scientific and Expert Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the issues of modernization of public consciousness in a multi-ethnic society were discussed.

The purpose of this seminar is an expert discussion of new phenomena in the processes of modernization of public consciousness, preservation of the national code in the face of globalization challenges. The scientific and practical seminar was held for the members of the Scientific and Expert Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, regional scientific and expert groups, representatives of ethno-cultural associations, scientists, researchers and experts.

Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan Leonid Prokopenko noted that Kazakhstan is now at a new stage of development: "We need new approaches and solutions to the tasks facing our state. The theme of the seminar is very relevant, and fully meets the tasks that the Head of State wrote in his article "Looking into the Future: Modernizing the Public Consciousness."

The seminar participants were welcomed by Aigul Kosherbayeva, Vice-Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She noted: "Powerful institutions of the state, education, family, religion in the era of globalization create new patterns of behavior, norms of life, relationships, build a system of values. In this new dimension, we need new research approaches, analytical developments and expert opinions".

As experts in the work of the scientific and practical seminar, international experts took part. Senior Researcher of the Institute of Ethnological Studies of the History of Sh.Mardzhani Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation) Zufar Makhmutov discussed the issues of the study of virtual communities of ethnic identity as a mechanism for the reproduction of the example of the Tatar groups in social network "in contact".

Professor at Sophia University St. Kliment Orhidskogo (Bulgaria) Tatyana Dronzina noted the importance of mediation in a multicultural society as a way of strengthening relations between the etnokofessionalnymi groups.

The issues of the reform of the national alphabets, language competence and some questions of the transition of the Kazakh script to the Latin script were announced in the reports of the Associated Professor of the Institute of Diplomacy of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Tulenbergenova and Director of the Institute of Modern Studies at the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilev, political science M.A. Sydyknazarova. 

The online joined Professor Omsk Humanitarian Academy O.N. Luchko and Head of Technology Personnel of the Center Institute of Theory and Public Administration Academy of management practices of personnel policy Studies under the President of the Republic of Belarus S.M. Aleynikova. O.N. Luchko told about vector educational migration in the border regions as a factor in ethnic and religious diversity as an example of Omsk region and Kazakhstan. Professor S.M. Aleynikova acquainted dissertations Belarusian scientists on religious topics.
