He fell asleep too, but woke up from the heat under the seat and the smell of smoke.
—I immediately ran to the driver and told him that the bus is burning. But he didn't believe. And the second driver was sleeping too. As he didn't stop the bus, I had to hit him. Only after that he stopped. When he returned, the fire had already engulfed several places. I began yelling: “We’re on fire!” but people didn't wake up. It turns out that those who were in the back of the bus have already poisoned with carbon monoxide, – Yerzhan says.
According to Yerzhan, the driver did not even open the bus doors, they had to be open it by kicking. After that, one by one, he let the children get outside, and then helped the other passengers to get out of the bus, which was already engulfed in flames.
According to data, there were children from three months and pensioners among passengers. 48 people in general, 12 of them were children. By the arrival of the firefighters, the bus was already completely on fire, and all the passengers were safe.

After Yerzhan's feat was told on local television, he was helped to restore the documents and found a place to sleep. A week later, with the help of his friends he was able to return home to Semey.

Yerzhan Amarkhanov himself hopes that the attention to his act will have a positive impact on the situation with passenger traffic in Kazakhstan and Russia.
—If the bus was new, this would not have happened. Therefore, we need to remove the old buses. If I hadn't noticed the fire, we'd all be burned alive. I'm not bragging, I'm worried about people. Old buses must be taken out of use, otherwise many people may die. It would be good if my words were heard by those who are responsible for it, — Yerzhan says.
