September 29, 2017 in Almaty in the building "White Orders" was held an international scientific symposium "Mukhtar Auezov and spiritual revival of the nation", dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the great Kazakh writer, public figure, scientist, first academician of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philology, Professor Mukhtar Omarhanovich Auezov.

Mukhtar Auezov studied and worked in Semipalatinsk, Tashkent, Leningrad. Since the 1930s he moved to Almaty. The fate of the city and the life of that period were illustrated by him in the essay "Day of Almaty".

The 185th house on Tulebayev Street, which was built by the writer, today became one of the centers of Kazakh culture and the sacred mascot of Almaty. It was here that he completed his famous work "The Way of Abai". With the support of the city akimat, the memorial house museum was completely renovated by the Astana-Stroyinvest corporation.

Perot Mukhtar Auezov became one of the best examples of Kazakh classical literature and inexhaustible inspiration for future generations, "the Almaty akim Bauyrzhan Baibek noted in his welcoming speech.

In the course of the symposium, leading Kazakh philology scholars delivered speeches on the creative and scientific heritage of the classic of Kazakh literature and its significance for contemporary literature and science. Leaders and activists of ethnocultural associations of Almaty, literary scholars from the USA, Holland, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Great Britain, Turkey and other countries took part in the event.
