On September 20, 2017, the capital Assembly of the people of Kazakhstan jointly with the Department for Religious Affairs of Astana city, experts of the Hotline-114 of the Association of Religious Research Centers and representatives of state bodies met with representatives of ethno-cultural associations of the city of Astana.

The purpose of this event is to provide the public with information about destructive religious movements and the formation of public opinion about the need to confront religious extremism in all its manifestations.

The meeting was held in the format of a public reception on the prevention of religious extremism and terrorism.

Pulatov Sh.A., expert (Islamic scholar) of the Hotline-114, chairman of the Uzbek ethno-cultural center of Astana, an international mediator, spoke on methods of countering the destructive religious activity. "If there is a person around you who is trying to get you some information or invites you to take part in a seminar, you have two options. The first way out: turn around and leave. But there is a second way out: ask him some friendly questions and ask for clear and specific answers. A representative of the Anti-Terrorist Center of the DKNB of the city of Astana held an explanatory conversation in which he noted that education for religious issues is necessary for all Kazakhstanis. One of the main goals of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the DKNB is the formation of a readiness for threats of a terrorist nature in the society. Also during the event, the participants were shown a video aimed at forming a tolerant religious consciousness and immunity to a radical ideology in the society.

At the meeting with representatives of ethno-cultural associations of the city of Astana, the most discussed topics of a religious nature were raised, the conversation was held in a question-and-answer format.

Between September 20 and October 24, 2017, five meetings will be held with representatives of ethnocultural associations and the youth wings of the capital.
