December 12, 2017 in the Republican "House of Friendship" in Almaty took place an event on the topic: "Spiritual modernization of Kurds in the conditions of globalization", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Kurds in Kazakhstan. The organizer of the event, held under the auspices of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, was the Republican Public Association "Barbang" Association of Kurds of Kazakhstan.

The following persons took part in the jubilee event: Kirikbaev Arman Orazbaevich - deputy akim of Almaty city,Hamedov Abilfas Muslimovich Khamedov - deputy chairman of the Assembly of the people of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of the Kurdish ethnos, leaders of republican and urban ethno-cultural associations, cultural figures, scientists, writers, entrepreneurs, circles and the public, the clergy and youth, the media.

Within the framework of the event, the words of congratulations were made on the Independence Day of Kazakhstan, the activity of ethno-cultural associations within the framework of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan was covered, and the participants touched upon the history of the migration of Kurds to Kazakhstan. In Kazakhstan and Central Asia, Kurds first appeared in the terrible years of Stalinist repression as a result of the policy of totalitarianism manifested in their forcible relocation. With haggard migrants food and shelter shared hospitable hosts the Great Steppe - Kazakhs. For centuries, people persecuted because of historical events, found in Kazakhstan their homeland, rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution to all citizens of the country, which allowed them to achieve, along with other peoples, much in science, culture, education, economy, construction, health, socio-political life of the country and today they successfully contribute to the development and prosperity of Kazakhstan.

The event ended with a holiday concert of the Kurdish ECA, the delivery of letters of thanks from the Assembly of the people of Kazakhstan and the "Barbang" Association of Kurds of Kazakhstan.
