June 8 at the hippodrome of the Merken district there was a meeting of the caravan "Ұлы Жібек Жолы. Kne Tarazdan asya Astana city of Tartu "within the framework of the international exhibition" EXPO-2017 ". The caravan meeting was organized by the regional assembly of the people of Kazakhstan and the akimat of the Merken district.

The arrival of the caravan in the village of Merke coincided with the holiday of kumys "Kymysmyryndy", dedicated to the most important drink of the Great Steppe. At the gates of the racetrack, travelers were greeted by aksakals of the district and representatives of ethno-cultural associations, and a talented akyn sang the friendship and unity of the people of Kazakhstan. Further on the expanses of the hippodrome there was an ethnoaul of 8 pavilions, in each of which ethno-cultural associations of the region welcomed the guests with special cordiality.

Representatives of different ethnic groups issued a unique exposition: they sang songs in elegant costumes, danced, covered a dastarkhan with national dishes, staged dramatized performances showing traditions and rituals, and master classes on various types of needlework and national cuisine were organized for those who wished. In addition, KSU "Kokamdyk kelіsim" of the apparatus of akim of Zhambyl region organized such games as "Struggle on pillows" and "Tug-of-war". The winners were awarded valuable gifts. And the favorite entertainment of the steppe people of the Altibakan pleased everyone: from small to large.

A festive event was visited and replaced by akim of Zhambyl region Bekbolat Orynbekov. He walked through all the pavilions and thanked the representatives of ethno-cultural associations for their active participation in this large-scale event, as a result of which all visitors to the international exhibition EXPO-2017 will see a documentary film filmed by the interstate TV and radio company Mir.

Each ethno-cultural association gave honorable travelers their gifts. And they laid down all the gifts in Korzhyn, which went along with the caravan to Astana for the international exhibition EXPO-2017.

The event ended with a concert program with the participation of creative collectives of ethno-cultural associations.
