Under this title, the first event of the cycle "Day of Ethnicity" was launched at the capital's shopping and entertainment center "Aruzhan" on the 13-th of May was organized by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in Astana.

"Day of Ethnicity" is a series of events that will be held throughout the year. The audience will be given the opportunity to get acquainted with the culture, traditions and customs of the East, the Caucasus, European and Slavic culture, plunge into the atmosphere of hospitality, goodness and positive emotions. The events are aimed at promoting the culture and traditions of ethnic groups living in the capital, demonstrating the achievements of ethno-cultural associations of the city.

All the ethno-cultural associations of the city are working to preserve and strengthen interethnic harmony, peace and friendship. In today's event, "The Faces of the East" showed the opportunity to the Korean, Tatar-Bashkir, Uighur, Turkmen, Tajik, Turkish, Uzbek, Kurdish, Karakalpak, Kyrgyz, Dungan cultural centers.

The event began with an exhibition of folk and applied art, at which the presentation of products of masters of ethno-cultural associations of the capital took place, where guests could admire traditional and authorial products, modern lines of needlework and creativity of ethno-cultural centers.

There were organized Creative master classes, where the guests of the event got acquainted with the history of folk crafts, communicated with craftsmen, made their own craft.

The event was accompanied by a concert-entertainment program with the participation of creative teams of ethno-cultural associations of the capital, with a demonstration of national dresses.

The cycle "The Faces of the East" once again vividly demonstrated the inseparable connection of generations, the high spirituality of the people, the work carried out by the capital's ethno-cultural associations to strengthen inter-ethnic harmony, peace and friendship.

The symbol of the "Day of Ethnicity" will be "Carpet of Friendship" embodying the unity, harmony and harmony of all nationalities living in our capital. The Kazakh ornament located in the center of the carpet will serve as a unifying element of 25 national patterns, represented by ethno-cultural associations. At the end of the year, the ready "Carpet of Friendship" will be presented at the final event of the "Day of Ethnicity".
