In the past week South Kazakhstan delegation headed by deputy akim U.Sadibekov conducted a two-day working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan.

The delegation began its first day of work to the brother city of Khujand, which is the second largest city of Tajikistan. During the visit title of "Shymkent" was officially awarded to the one of the largest areas of the city of Khujand.

In his speech, deputy akim of the region congratulated the audience with warm wishes and greetings from the South Kazakhstan Region.

Among the members of the delegation was the Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan of South Kazakhstan region M.Kalmuratov.

Today South Kazakhstan region is a home to nearly 30 thousand representatives of Tajik ethnic group. Inter-ethnic harmony is supported by the regional Tajik ethnocultural association"Panj". Since 2003, between Shymkent and Khujand cities was signed an agreement on fraternal and friendly communication. In 2005, one of the streets of Shymkent was officially awarded with the title of "Khujand".

During the meeting were discussed issues on strengthening of social and economic relations between two regions.

South Kazakhstan delegation has completed a working visit to Dushanbe, where took part in a number of important activities.
