“WIEDERGEBURT” TO HELD EVENTS TO THE DEPORTATION DAY OF GERMANS

On August 26, German society “Wiedergeburt” held events dedicated to the memorable date – Deportation Day of the Germans, which is celebrated on August 28.

In the first half of the day, representatives of the German society “Wiedergeburt” and the staff of Director Boris Schwartzman from Germany went to the village Akmol in Tselinograd district. The guests laid flowers at the monument “Split star” in the museum-memorial complex “ALZHIR”. The excursion to the Museum halls “Alash”, “ALZHIR” was held and the documentary film “Fierce cold of “ALZHIR” was shown as well.

Film screening and discussion of “Closed theme” by the author and director Boris Schwartzman was held in the House of Friendship of Astana. The film tells about the tragic fate of the Soviet Germans, who were urgently evicted from the Volga region to remote areas of the Soviet Union including Kazakhstan according to the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of August 28, 1941. The authors of the film made a noble mission to tell about the reasons for resettlement, to convey to the younger generation the historical memory of the tragic events of the 20th century.

This year, the Germans of the former Soviet Union celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the autonomous region of the Volga region. The German Volga region, despite the sad events still preserved the cultural heritage of the Germans, as evidenced by photographs and archives of the time.
