The history of Great Kazakh steppe. "ULY DALA ELI" EXPEDITION. DAY 2

September 14, 2015 "ULY DALA ELI" historical-cultural expedition continued its work in May district of Pavlodar region. The district is famous with "Kalmakkhyrgan" battlefield - historical place. Kazakh people inflicted a major defeat to dzhungar warriors and forced them to retreat from the depths of the Kazakh steppe, defending their lands.

September 14, 2015 "ULY DALA ELI" historical-cultural expedition continued its work in May district of Pavlodar region. The district is famous with "Kalmakkhyrgan" battlefield - historical place. Kazakh people inflicted a major defeat to dzhungar warriors and forced them to retreat from the depths of the Kazakh steppe, defending their lands.

Sary-Arka hummocky impressive with its natural beauty. Folk legends say that this is historical place of battle headed by Olzhabay Batyr between Dzhungars and Kazakhs. The evidenced of it are the stones of Jungar warriors graves. In general, the district is of great scientific and historical value and interest to start archaeological and ethnographic works.

There is the famous cave on Kalmakkyrgan, where in 1930 under the leadership of K.Satpayev was staged "Enlik-Kebek" theatrical performance of the young Kazakh writer Mukhtar Auezov. It should be noted that the major role of Kebek was played by Kanysh Imantaevich. He left an inscription with his name on the wall at the entrance to the cave. The cave was visited by many prominent public figures.

The village Akshiman with the assistance of Akimat of May area had organized a meeting with the local people. During the meeting the members of the expedition explained the main scientific and social aims and objectives of the expedition. Made recommendations on the development of historical tourism in the region.
