Yussup Keligov: Our Unity is Inviolable
The events that took place in a number of settlements in Korday District, Zhambyl Region, unfortunately, resulted in casualties and injuries. In this regard, I extend my deep sincere condolences to the families of the victims. We need to live through this difficult time together and learn lessons.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made a statement in connection with the unrest in the region. He instructed a government commission to deal with the aftermath of the events in the Korday region. It is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Berdibek Saparbayev.
The main causes of the conflict will be identified, and measures will be taken to promptly address socio-economic and humanitarian issues and to restore the property of victims.
The families of the dead and wounded will be provided with the necessary assistance. Authoritative representatives of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan and its ethnocultural associations will be involved in this work.
Work is to be done to identify those responsible for the unrest who must be punished. This will be done by law enforcement agencies in accordance with the principles of comprehensive investigation, objectivity, openness and fairness. The crime has no nationality, there are people who have violated the law and disregarded the safety of our citizens.
The scenario of such conflicts is known: everything starts with a rude word, disrespect, unrestraint, and ends with scuffles, destruction of everything and everything, unjustified hatred and subsequent repentance.
The most unfortunate thing is that instead of trying to ennoble, to cool down hot heads, there are those who are ready to add fuel to the flame. They write provocative comments, insult people on the nationality.
Have we forgotten the truth that there are no bad and good nations, forgotten mutual assistance and respect for each other, forgotten that our strength is in unity?!
The Kazakh people have always shown wisdom and tolerance, thanks to which we build our society on principles of trust, mutual respect and support.
We have something to cherish, our unity is inviolable - said the President in his election platform. Only together will we be able to preserve peace in our common home.
Yussup Keligov,
Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan,
a member of the Chechen-Vainakh Cultural Centre
